Our Story
Rooted in Faith,
Growing Together
Lake Villa United Methodist Church has served the Lake Villa community with faithfulness and love for many decades. Founded by families who believed that a congregation could be both a spiritual home and a center of community life, our church has been a consistent presence through the seasons of this town.
Through times of growth and times of challenge, our congregation has remained committed to the Wesleyan tradition — pursuing personal holiness and social holiness together, believing that faith must be both felt in the heart and expressed in the world.
Today, we are a multi-generational community of faith — from young families and children to longtime members who have walked these halls for decades. We are bound together by the love of Christ and a shared commitment to making disciples and serving our neighbors.

This is the mission of the United Methodist Church — and it is the heartbeat of what we do at Lake Villa UMC. We invite, we welcome, we worship, we serve, and we grow together in faith. Every program, every ministry, every Sunday service points back to this calling.
Core Beliefs
What We Believe
As United Methodists, we are guided by Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience — what John Wesley called the “Wesleyan Quadrilateral.” Here are some of the core beliefs that shape our life together.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the primary source for Christian living and doctrine.
Grace
We believe in God's grace — prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying — freely given to all people. You don't have to be perfect to come to God.
Salvation
We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, all people can receive salvation and be transformed by the Holy Spirit.
Social Holiness
We believe faith without action is incomplete. John Wesley called us to serve the poor, care for the sick, and work for justice.
